Rich Internet Applications (RIA)

The arrival of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) introduces a new approach to business applications. Historically the software was required to be installed on a target machine. Then WEB applications shifted the paradigm to centrally managed collection of WEB pages providing business functions with zero installation efforts. RIA today combines best parts of both worlds - it provides rich user experience of a locally installed software while easily distributed over the web with zero installation efforts.

We think RIA approach has a huge potential in business applications, not yet fully realized. Computing power of personal computers grew substantially while network speed, reliability and accessibility are becoming better and better. At the same time user demands for and expectations of business applications increase not only in quality, but often in kind.

Having to install the software from disks, maintaining and updating it later on, dealing with compatibility issues on the target machine are more and more becoming history, so is the constant reloading of countless document-like web pages in traditional WEB applications. With RIA users get the native feeling of the application without having to install anything.
